LET’S GO TO THE PHILIPPINES

When you think about Philippines, you think about those beautiful beaches, tropical islands, crystal clear seawater and lush rainforest. Discovering their tradition and culture from a unique perspective by traveling solo was what I did on that journey. Even though I only visited Manila and nearby province, I hope I can offer as much experiences as I can for you to enjoy.

  • How to get there

Cebu Pacific Air is the online that can take you directly to the city of Manila. However, you have to travel to Siem Reap airport first before taking off to Manila. Airfare can be as low as 50$ from PP to SR and 90$ from SR to Manila. Instead of a plane, you can take a bus from PP to SR, but it could consume your energy and time. Nevertheless, purchasing the airfare one year ahead is the best thing you could do to lower the price.

Other way may consist of departing from PP to KL and KL to Manila for 200$ to 250$ via AirAsia. Other airlines do offer the same destination, but for higher prices.

  • Where to stay

The center of Manila can be pricey for accommodation. Then, you can choose somewhere else outside the center for a lower room-charge. Costs can range from 30 to 40$ per room in the center of the city and lower as you get further. For your safety and convinces, my recommendation is to spend your night stay in somewhere around the center of the city.

  • Currency Exchange

Just exchange your money to Peso at the airport in the Philippines, because you can receive a higher exchange rate.

  • Getting out of the airport

You will see many taxi drivers try to catch your attention for a ride to the city. Don’t be too excited, because many of them will charge you expensively. Try to find or book a taxi that are involved with Grab Taxi service. Since, they will charge you with the distance you travel. You may want to use Grab to get around the city.

  • Locals

Before beginning my trip, I though the locals can speak good English. Well, thing can be a bit difference. Not all taxi drivers or food vendors can speak English.

  • Food

Food is not an issue for me. But, on average, normal food stores do lack cleanliness and hygiene. Please put that into consideration as well before deciding to visit.

  • Places to Visit

Due to the less time I had back then, I did not travel to a lot of places in the Philippines. To get around the urban areas, choosing taxi is the best way because of its low price.

It is even better if you have friends or family who lives in the Philippines. Being with the locals can make your trip quite easier.

I would love to visit many more places on my future trips to the Philippines, especially the Cebu beach which is famous for its magnificent shoreline.
